This Cookies Policy explains how Wisconsin Hmong Association, Inc. (“WHA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on whainc.org (the “Site”). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

We use cookies for a small number of practical purposes. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell information collected through cookies.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the Site to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as logging in or filling out a form.

• WordPress session and security cookies — these keep the Site secure and functioning. A test cookie (wordpress_test_cookie) checks whether your browser accepts cookies at all.
• Login cookies (wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-*) — these apply only to WHA staff and administrators who log in to manage the Site. They are not set for ordinary visitors.
• Caching cookies — our caching system uses cookies to determine whether to serve you a cached page or a personalized one, which keeps the Site fast.

Functional Cookies

These cookies let the Site remember choices you make and provide enhanced features. If you block them, some parts of the Site may not work as intended.

• Popup preferences (pum-*) — if we display a popup or announcement and you dismiss it, a cookie remembers that so we do not show you the same message repeatedly.
• Comment details (comment_author_*) — if you leave a comment and choose to save your details, these cookies remember your name, email, and website so you do not have to retype them. They are set only if you opt in, and last approximately one year.
• Page builder cookies — our page builder may set cookies to support certain interactive elements and layout features.

Anti-Spam Cookies

• Akismet — our spam filtering service may set a cookie to help determine whether a comment was submitted by a real person or an automated script.

Third-Party Cookies

• Zeffy donation form — our Donate page contains a donation form embedded from Zeffy. When that form loads, Zeffy and its payment processor may set their own cookies to operate the form, prevent fraud, and complete your transaction. These cookies are controlled by Zeffy, not by WHA, and are governed by Zeffy’s own privacy and cookie policies. We cannot see or manage them on your behalf.
• Embedded content — if a page contains content embedded from another site, that site may set cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content exactly as if you had visited it directly.

3. A Note on the Exact Cookies in Use

The specific cookies set on the Site can change as we update plugins and features. The categories above describe how we use cookies and are kept accurate. If you would like to see the exact list of cookies present during your visit, you can view them in your browser’s developer tools, usually under a “Storage” or “Application” tab, or by using a browser privacy extension.

4. Your Choices: Managing Cookies

You are in control of cookies. Most browsers let you view, delete, and block them.

Be aware that if you block all cookies, parts of the Site may stop working correctly — and blocking cookies on the Donate page may prevent the donation form from completing a transaction.

5. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. There is currently no industry-standard way for websites to respond to these signals, so our Site does not respond to them differently. However, we do not track visitors across other websites for advertising purposes in the first place.

We may update this Cookies Policy as our Site and the tools we use change. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
